"Tomasz Padło talks about the invisible to the naked eye - invisible to a casual, inattentive observer- former border dividing the areas of historical partitions of Poland. This narrative uniquely combines fieldwork, reportage and photography; shows that the ditch, bridge or rivulet are boundaries, dividing not only communes but also Rome and Byzantium, Europe and Asia, and forms the wall between what is ours and what is foreign. But the book by Tomasz Padło would be incomplete without photographs: far from simple illustrativeness, together with the words forming their own narration, the story of the eye. The pictures show Poland as it is - neither particularly beautiful nor definitely ugly. However, filtered with an exceptional light, presented in clear way by an experienced photographer, becomes more legible, charming despite the weakness; this is always the case when the reader is taken care by a guide who knows his profession well. The peculiar one is that story, worth knowing."
